Early Alzheimer’s Detection
PET and Alzheimer’s Disease
MD Imaging Uses Positron Emission Tomography To Help Detect Alzheimer’s Disease Earlier
Positron Emission Tomography uses small amounts of radioactive tracer to image the body’s organs, and can detect the signals given off by the tracer as the sugar goes to the normal areas of the brain and does not go to the areas that are typically affected in Alzheimer’s disease.
PET shows biological changes in the brain from Alzheimer’s disease before other diagnostic tests and several years earlier than the onset of symptoms. This aids a Neurologist in locating the problem for effective treatment.
